Michael McCarthy

Michael has over 25 years experience as a partner in a Brisbane law firm across a number of areas of practice, but more recently has specialised in the areas of commercial and business law. He regularly provides advice at Seminars conducted for business groups and has acted for a significant number of clients in the specialised area of newsagencies both in Qld and NSW. He also provides advice for a significant operator in the fitness industry.
Michael has experience as a full time academic in both business and law faculties in Queensland and NSW and has lectured and tutored at a number of Brisbane universities in Introductory Law, Commercial Law, Property Law and Family Law. He has also lectured in Law and Ethics and has assisted as a casual lecturer in the University of Queensland Law Faculty’s program for practical training of law graduates.
He has served on University Research Projects Ethics committees as well as sporting disciplinary committees and is both a qualified and experienced Mediator.
Michael has almost 9 years of experience sitting as a member of various Tribunals in Brisbane, in particular, the Misconduct Tribunal (including 2 years as its Senior Member) and the Guardianship and Administration Tribunal.
Outside of work, Michael is kept busy with 4 children, all at university, 3 of whom are currently undertaking law studies as well as a big yard he likes to keep in good order. Michael likes to stay fit, plays competition squash and attends the gym regularly. |
